Things to do in Puerto Rico

Whether you want to sunbathe on the beaches or gamble the night away in the casinos, there are so many diverse and different things to do in Puerto Rico you will not have enough time to do everything! Puerto Rico offers such diversity that there is something for everyone – no matter what age – making it an ideal choice for a family vacation.

With the historic Old San Juan to explore from the fortress called El Morro and the Castillo de San Cristobal that protected the island from any invaders to the boutique museums that was fascinate you with the history of the island. The many beaches include all the activities associated with the water from parasailing to sailing a boat yourself or going deep sea fishing. Other things to do in Puerto Rico include scuba diving or snorkeling can explore the water while those who seek more adventure can explore caves, go kite surfing or rappel down a mountain or take a hike in the rain forests in the central part of the island. Horseback riding or kayaking are other sports that might entice you to have a thrill for the day.

Golfing on the beautiful courses throughout the island is always a pleasure for those who can’t get enough of it. Shopping of course is always a big hit and you can find beautiful handmade jewelry and clothing especially from the local designer Lisa Cappalli for modern chic clothing that will get raves everywhere you go.

For those on a budget you can take advantage of free activities and things that include a visit to Old San Juan on first Tuesday of the month to explore art galleries and drink wine while being entertained by minstrels strolling through the streets. The Bacardi distillery is always a pleasure to visit and you get a complimentary drink of rum as well. The beaches are everywhere and El Yunque the rainforest is only two hours from San Juan and you can swim under a waterfall or take a hike.

There are patron saint festivals in many towns throughout the year and they add a festive touch of music and dance and foods to enjoy. The annual Ventana al Jazz is a music festival hosted by Heineken and is held the last Sunday of each month in Condado right next to the beach. What more could you ask for?
